The Gray City…
“Now those memories come back to haunt me, They haunt me like a curse…”
- Bruce Springsteen
It’s been a pretty busy few weeks here in Seattle. I’ve been scrambling to try and get the paperwork and money together for my study abroad in Japan this summer. I’m supposed to be attending this language school and the whole thing is turning into a headache… I’m nervous enough about actually going… without all these hoops to jump through. And going to actually study at a language school full time… with no other classes… it’s a little daunting.
My dear friend Josh was up visiting for a week or so. I had classes but we decided to have one day where we just went out on the town. Naturally we suited up, which I would never call a mistake per se… but for some reason it did get us into some trouble…
We started off with dinner and drinks close to the downtown area, and then walked over to the Chapel Bar. It’s inside an old mortuary and it’s dark and small. Plus, martini happy hour! can’t go wrong, right?
So the night started off really well. After the martini’s we wandered up the hill to another bar. It’s a bit of a dive, but all the trendy seattle would be hipsters love it. So we sat down and this guy next to us started making comments about us under his breath. I ignored him, the night went on. Josh left for the rest room, and while he was gone a young lady came and sat down with us. She talked for a bit. Apparently we were really loud and animated and she wanted to know what the big deal was. Josh came back, we all started talking. it was good times. Josh and the woman got into something of an argument over his stance that lesbians don’t like to tip him well. It was a huge debacle and he only dug himself in deeper. All around pretty funny. She eventually went back to her table. Meanwhile that strange guy had been harassing some of us in the bathroom and outside the bar. really weird. Kept yelling at us for wearing suits and calling us fat cats like we had some real money. It was pretty comical. At the next stop… well… lots of shots… lots of bad decisions. From what i hear we ended up at IHOP after this bar … but i actually don’t really remember that.
What I do remember is waking up on my bathroom floor with a blanket tossed rather kindly on top of me… Well… I thought it was pretty funny all around. I am still hearing about some of the craziness that occurred during the ‘IHOP Fiasco’. I won’t post it here, but videos are available on Youtube…. lol.
Oh! Here is a picture Ryan took of me… apparently I was refusing to eat my crepes…
Legen….wait for it…. DARY….
Visited with the folks for a little while… Had a nice family dinner with my older brother and sister-in-law. They have something of a clan of their own now.
One of the cutest nieces in the world…!
And a picture I took just for the hell of it while I was walking through campus one afternoon… I think i’m going to miss it around here… just a little bit.
